Miyuki Den

Vibrant metallic silver with copper and blue undertones, all the reflective scale are found on the top, the side view from aquariums or incorrect lighting can be a washed out silver brown colour. This is due to the iridescent scale is at an angle that it is missed when seen from the flank. The reflective scale is on top and not really combined in a way to show off the full effect unless from above and with correct lighting.

When put under UV or natural lighting (sunlight) the Melanophores in the skin provide a much darker under colour in the base or body colour of the fish. Which accentuates the more dark/copper metallic tones of the fish. In nature I assume this makes the fish look darker and blend in while in the open.

While below is a blurry photo, it shows the head colour and a much darker then your average aquarium specimen because of the 25W UVA/B light above it. The UV definitely cause a colour pigment change in Medaka.

The UV lights are best paired with a full spectrum RGB light in combination, both make sure the full blue/copper iridescence is brought out by the red/blue spectrums

This fish is best set in a dark tub and seen from above.

This is one of my favourite varieties, due to its colour changing aspects, if you tilt and angle the lights so the UV and LED hit the fish at different angles while swimming is appears like the fish actually changes colours as it swims.
